When teaching me a thing, begin with practical data--straight lines to follow from one point to the next. Expose me to images of the process, tell me how it goes, be patient while I take notes. THEN give me the theory behind why we did what we just did.
Do it the other way round, and I'll be too busy trying to find a loophole in your "It is this way because it is this way" statements to really attend the hands-on. It's a failing; I'm overly wary of the unproven Word of God.
SHOW me it works this way before you tell me your reasons why. Layer things that way, and what you're trying to put in my head will shine like a newly chromed tailpipe.
